I’ve Got Wheels!

April 8, 2025

Thanks to my long legs and skinny frame, I could out run everybody, boy and girl, in fifth grade. And then I grew up, got my license and was off!

Now, for the first time since I was sixteen years old I am without a car. Over all those years I always had access to a sedan, a convertible, a station wagon, compact, hatchback, you name it. Oddly enough, I never have driven a motorcycle, truck, bus, RV, train or airplane. But last week I sold my car and now I rely on family, taxis, Lyft, Uber, Senior Center van, and other means so readily available in our senior-friendly town.

Not a big change, actually, since my mobility capacities have diminished with age and I have no desire to take a visual test to renew my license, to pay for car insurance, fuel, registration and any other expenses bound to come up eventually. So good bye, automobile, and hello wheel chair!
