Be A Doll!

Do little girls nowadays still play with dolls? I always had a doll to dress and undress. I could talk to her and she’d talk back. We’d pretend to go shopping, pretend go to school, pretend visit Grandma. Then I would put her in her pajamas and then to her doll bed to sleep.

Over the years my own girls had dolls that cried real tears, wet their pants, said real words. Pull the string on her little plastic neck and she’d say “Hello! I’m hungry.”

So where are they now? Where’s “Tiny Tears”? “Chatty Cathy”? Mandy’s Baby with the pointed hair? My beloved “Polly”? No doubt AI has taken over and GI Joe carries a real functioning AK47. Barbie probably has an affair with Ken. Batman responds to his signal by driving out of the toy chest in an electric batmobile and Superman flies off the toy shelf, arms outstretched, cape waving while talking on his phone

Where are they now? In that infamous Cloud somewhere, along with all those single mittens and lonely socks.
