Open letter to City Council Members;
Would you please explain to me and other reasonable citizens why Council is encouraging the expenditure of time and effort to curtail the number of feral cats now residing in the Mile Square while at the same time spending thousands of dollars for a company to lessen the number of white tailed deer who walk silently from yard to yard in the Square Mile, munching on ivy and overgrown shrubs and, yes, flowers. They do cause traffic accidents outside of town on highways, but within the city, on the contrary, they usually cause cars to slow down and even stop, to take pictures
I don’t understand and frankly, am appalled that my taxpayer money is being used to shoot and kill these beautiful animals, whose natural habitat is probably being erased by real estate developers, when the same technology used on cats could be used to lessen the number of deer who wander harmlessly throughout the town.
Ask anyone who is a non-resident and who comes across the doe and her fawns wandering across Main Street and they will express delight, surprise and approval. The deer are are an asset, not a liability and they deserve to live. Please cancel the contract with that murderous company.
